Books…

nought-and-crosses‘Noughts and Crosses’ is a life changing, emotional and powerful book written by an amazing author called Malorie Blackman. This s a trilogy of how racism can affect the world we live in. This book is based on how discrimination exists; ‘Noughts and Crosses’ is a twist on what happened hiostorically between the black and white race. In the novel being black was right and and being white was wrong. However, two teenagers from diverse races fall in love. The black people were called ‘Crosses’ and the white people were called ‘Noughts’.

I was so intrigued by this captivating novel because I think it is very skillful how history was twisted;this enabled me to empathise with the characters more because I felt as though these characters were actually real and I believe this one of Malorie Blackman’s great talents. This is a life changing novel because it will make you value life a lot more because people suffered very much due to the colour of their skin. The message behind this novel shows that equality never used to exist so we should appreciate the world we live in now.

I have read motivational books that are based on accumulating a successful relationship and what steps I should take when being involved with a guy. I have read a book called ‘Why men love bitches’ written by Sherry Argov, I know you are probably thinking this book teaches women to gain personality traits that will make them look bad but that is totally incorrect. This specific book basically teaches women to be nice but to focus on what is the most important aspect which is themselves. I learnt that men adore women that are independent and are well aware of their self worth. I used to wonder why most men find it difficult to settle down with a woman that is too nice and puts men before themselves, this is a problem because according to this book men are more attracted to women that value themselves, women that do not come across as needy and a woman that will only go out of her way for a man when she is certain he will do the same and more for her.

Another book that is similar to this is ‘Act like a lady think like a man’ this book is written by Steve Harvey; this book has 14 chapters about the issues that women face regarding men. It teaches women how to empathise with men and understand why they behave in certain ways. The first chapter is what drives a man, this chapter taught me that before any guy will settle down they need to be established by achieving their goals for example a CEO of a company, becoming a footballer, becoming an NBA player or becoming a successful businessman. The second chapter is linked to the way a man loves and from reading this chapter I understood that a man’s love is diverse to a woman’s love. The book tells me that a man will provide, protect and profess when he loves a woman. This book also contains information on how you know a man wants you for the long run or not and how to determine whether a man will marry you or not.

What effect I think these kind of books have on women?

I think that these books can have both a positive and negative impact on women here is why…

Positive reasons…

  • It makes women understand how some men think.
  • It teaches women how to know whether a man truly wants you for a long time or whether you are just there temporarily.
  • It motivates women in knowing what should be tolerated and what should not be accepted

Negative reasons…

  • You can not make the assumption that every man actually behave in this manner.
  • Every woman has different personalities just because a book says its the right way to behave it does not make it applicable for every man.
  • These books do not take in consideration every aspect as in timing, past experiences ect

rogue

Rogue is a book written by Danielle Steel who is one of my favourite authors. This book is extremely amazing it is about a woman called Maxine who has three children for a multi-dollar millionaire called Blake. Maxine is a very successful psychologist and loves her job very much but Blake has always had a mentality of a kid he just never really grew up; his life revolves around having fun and just behaving childish. Blake was not really ever present in the life of his kids because he was always travelling and buying houses and this did not quite fit Maxine’s lifestyle as she felt she was the only grown up in their relationship. The childish behaviour that Blake had caused Maxine to ask for a divorce because she did not need a part-time husband and father. He was still part of the children’s lives and his children loved him very much. Later in the book, Maxine and Blake discovered they still love each other and decided to get back together. The lesson I learnt from this book s that what ever is meant to be will be regardless of how much you try to fight it.
